Hugo Crick-Furman is a performer, allegedly. The source of this unfortunate condition has, by now, been lost to memory. Nonetheless, we must all now cope with the consequences. Hugo draws on techniques such as clown, drag, trash puppetry, spoken word, and ritual magic to create harrowing and pleasing experiences of all stripes. Her work focuses on themes of apocalypse, folklore, and the horrifying intersections of the natural world and our own digital hubris.

Hugo also performs as a Drag Thing and Ill Omen known as The Public Universal Friend (or The PUF for short.) The PUF placed third in a local drag olympiad known as Not Another Drag Competition, and second in the aforementioned competition’s Holiday All Stars Special. This beast’s performances have been seen in places as far-ranging as the V&A, the Puppet Theatre Barge in Little Venice, and your dad’s house!

In her art, Hugo hopes to do something, anything new in this blighted postmodern world. However, as this is an impossible task, she will settle for evoking a feeling that you can’t quite place or grasp. If you have any kind of response to her work, please let her know! Not only does she need the attention to survive, she also gets off on it!
